The
InterContinental Resort Tahiti, formerly the legendary Beachcomber, has
long been rated the top hotel of Tahiti. It has a superbly romantic
location lagoonside in 30 acres of tropical gardens, with spectacular
views across to the soaring peaks of Tahiti's sister Island, Moorea. We
are just over a mile from the airport, and the capital and port city,
Papeete, are about six miles down the road. You'll relax in two of the most beautiful infinity pools in all Polynesia and meet our colorful fish life in our own Lagoonarium in the heart of the resort. The Aquatica Center is on the spot for diving, snorkeling and all the water sports. Then there's tennis, French bowls in the grounds plus any number of activities and excursions in Papeete and around the Island.

Nothing's higher than the coconut palms in our low rise Polynesian-style
resort of 263 rooms, suite and overwater bungalows. To make you feel you're in Tahiti, all accommodations are attractively decorated in a tasteful and relaxing Colonial Polynesian theme. Here is an overview but click on each accommodation type for a full description and floor plan.
The rooms are in three categories in nine adjoining three story buildings spread out in our luxuriant grounds:
The overwater bungalows, thatched with pandanus leaves, are our most romantic choice - inspired by traditional Polynesian houses called fare. They're built on stilts let into the lagoon bed and all have ocean views, private terraces and sundecks with direct access to the lagoon for swimming or snorkeling. There are two designs:
Finally, we have a Presidential style suite
We have two Garden Rooms specially adapted for the disabled for whom access to restaurants, bars and pool areas is available from the elevators.
If you did not book your accommodations to fit in with the normal check in time of 11 am (remember many flights arrive very early & leave late) or if you did not book a late departure after normal check out time of 2 pm, you may request the use of a special changing & shower room on the spot (not bookable in advance).
here are some of the most important features you will finding each room type:

International and of course French cuisines meet with the freshest products from Polynesia and the sea to create some memorable dining experiences! We've something to match the moment and every mood in our two restaurants, two bars and 24 hour room service. We are particularly proud of an association with one of France's top gastronomic restaurants, the renowned 3-star Michelin, Auberge de l'Ill, in Alsace. In collaboration with it and its team, we have developed menus to suit our tropical setting - they perfectly mix the traditional with local, and exotic touches. The Head Chef, Bruno Schmitt, from the Auberge de l'Ill, will tempt you with his ever-changing menu at the gourmet overwater restaurant, Le Lotus. Be sure not to miss it - it's open for lunch and dinner daily.
